OriginLab Inc. proudly announces the release of Origin version 7.5, the leading technical graphics and data analysis software package in Windows. This release represents a substantial redesign of the software, including new data analysis and graphics tools, a user-friendly and powerful nonlinear curve fitter and a toolbar based user interface for instant access to analysis tools and common features. Origin 6.1 is compatible with Windows 9x and is accompanied by extensive documentation.

Origin 7.5 requires minimal hardware and is very compact. Consequently, Origin is the fastest software among its competitors. The new 2 D graphics toolbar allows users to instantly access many graph types including new vector and polar graphs, as well as line, scatter, area, bar, pie, and statistical charts. New features in Origin, include baseline and peak analysis designed for spectroscopy, improved Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) that facilitates digital signal processing, and a powerful nonlinear curve fitter with approximately 200 built-in functions. These new features complement existing analytical tools such as smoothing, regression, and ANOVA. New toolbars have been added for accessing frequently used features, simplifying our user interface. Toolbars and menu commands can be customized or added using Origin's scripting language, LabTalk, now a full featured C-like language.

Data Analysis Tools

Origin's powerful mathematical and statistical operations include smoothing, regression, integration/differentiation, FFT, t-test, ANOVA, and curve fitting. Additionally, the following features have been added to Origin :

Our completely redesigned nonlinear curve fitter has an intuitive graphical interface that displays equations and sample curves for the function selected. You can fit multiple datasets simultaneously and allows parameter initialization, upper/lower bounds, tolerances, etc. to be set interactively. Approximately 200 built-in functions are divided into categories of disciplines in science and engineering such as physics, pharmacology or chemistry.

Digital Signal Processing is easier to handle using the new FFT interface in Origin. The FFT operation now includes options for power spectrum estimation, windowing methods (Welch, Hamming etc.), phase unwrapping, correlation, convolution, and de-convolution.

Origin introduces baseline and peak analysis for spectroscopists and chromatographers. Using a toolbar one can automatically pick peaks, determine baselines, and obtain detailed peak statistics.

Layout Page for Creating Reports

Origin's unique layering technique allows construction of up to 50 graphs on a page. These graphs maintain a live-link with data and can even be linked with each other through axes. The new Layout Page facilitates development of publication quality graphics, providing a select and drop interface to add graphs and worksheets to the same page. You can align, arrange, or resize your graphs, worksheets, text or even buttons to create publication quality reports.

A few new graph types have been added, including floating bar and vector graph, improved polar graphs, and B-spline connections.

NEW User Interface

Origin menu items have been re-organized to include all the new functions. The standard toolbar provides groups of customizable buttons to access common menu commands such as file save, open, graph etc. In addition, floating toolbars specifically designed for 2 D graphics, linear and polynomial regression, peak and baseline analysis, and FFT allow one to initialize, set constraints, analyze, display and store results with simple mouse clicks. The operations of floating toolbars are easily customizable by editing the associated text files. Moreover, Origin itself is fully customizable (including menus and features) with simple script commands.

Functionality

With a simple click of the mouse, duplicate any graphics, objects or data windows. Child windows in a project containing graphs or data can now be saved or opened independent of the parent project.
