Thermo-Calc Classic (TCC) can perform more calculations than most users can think of. The calculations are based on thermodynamic databases produced by an expert evaluation of experimental data. For a complete listing, please see our website, or:
http://www.thermocalc.se or
www.thermotech.co.uk The calculations Thermo-Calc can handle include:
- phase diagrams (binary ternary, isothermal, isoplethal, etc.. up to 5 independent variables),
- Thermodynamic properties of pure substance, compounds and solution phases
- thermodynamic properties of chemical reactions
- property diagrams (fraction of phases, Gibbs Energy, Enthalpy, Cp, etc. -- up to 20 components)
- Pourbaix diagrams and man other diagrams for aqueous-involving interactions systems
- partial gaseous pressures, chemical potentials of volatile species (up to 1000 species)
- Scheil-Gulliver solidification simulations
- Liquidus surfaces for multicomponent alloys
- Thermodynamic factors, driving forces
- Heterogeneous equilibria (up to 20 components)
- Metastable equilibria, para-equilibria
- Transport properties of aqueous solutions
- Special quantities: e.g. To, A3-temperature, adiabatic T, chill factors, etc.
- Oxide-layer formation of steel surface, steel/alloy refining, PRE
- Evolution of hydrothermal, metamorphic, volcanic, sedimentary weathering processes
- Speciation in corrosion, recycling, remelting, sintering, incineration, combustion
- CVD diagrams,s thin-film formation
- CVM calculations, chemical ordering-disordering
- Thermodynamics of steady-state reactors
- Establishment & modification of datasets or databases
- Simulation of Carnot cycles
- Anything you can think of which represents an equilibrium...
- There are thermodynamic databases available for many different materials and applications. TCC can make graphs and tables that show the results from your calculations. The software supports different graphical formats e.g. Postscript and Portable Network Graphics
Thermo-Calc Classic (TCC) is divided into several different modules for performing different tasks (retrieving data, performing a calculation, or plotting the results). The user interface consists of a command line interface where commands are typed. All commands can be abbreviated for convenience. There are also special modules for certain types of calculations, such as the Scheil-Gulliver simulations of solidification and calculations of the Pourbaix diagrams for aqueous systems. After gaining some experience with the software, it is easy to construct interactive MACRO files, which performs a calculation. Using MACRO files makes it possible to save complicated command sequences and repeat them many times for different cases at different times There a re a complete range of help facilities for the users, by simply typing a question mark (?) at the command prompt. An alternative cut-down windows package called TCW, Thermo-Calc Windows is available for simple phase diagram calculations. TCW is recommended for beginners and to those who purchase TCC.
